vicious words

KIASU (kee-ah-soo)
a simple competitive spirit that's known among Singaporeans and beginning to seep into the minds of Malaysians nowadays. in other words, "afraid of losing".

my finals ended about 2 weeks ago..
well, i hate exams, not just because of the studying and stress, but the 'aftermath' of it..
people start comparing marks, wanting to know who and who got what and what for this and that subject.. such things usually happens during schooling days.. it didn't bother me back in my old school, (except for my maths) basically cos i couldn't be bothered, having the 'tidak apa' attitude..

however, things aren't the same here in Form 6.. the more 'tidak apa' or couldn't be bothered you are, the more people would think that you're just plain kiasu.. classmates just pass remarks about your results, sarcastically or not, only they’ll know.. even if it's done jokingly, there has to be a limit to it right? i'm sure everything has a limit.
you can't continuously shove more rubbish into an overfilled waste paper basket/bag, it WILL break or burst sooner or later.

I want good grades or at least average grades, so I work for it.. if you’re unsatisfied with your results that you have to say something about mine, why don’t you work for it and think of what to say for yourself? It’s not my fault, you know.. I can’t study for you, for goodness sake.. neither can I sit for the exam for you.. so stop bugging me with those sarcastic remarks of yours.. I’m so sick and tired of you people’s unfortunately kiasu spirit..

Sorry Mervin, I know those words I said to you, or more like swear were really harsh. I couldn’t stand the pressure and those words came out of frustration, it's my fault. Anyhow, I’m really sorry.
